I received an ARC of Walk Through Fire by Kristen Ashley in exchange for an honest review. Millie and Logan's story absolutely broke my heart. I sat in bed bawling like a baby whose candy was stolen. Walk through fire is is such a beautiful story based on love, second chances and what someone is willing to endure to make sure the person they love has everything they ever wanted. Millie and Logan have an amazing chemistry but if there are such things as soulmates these two would be a prime example. Ashley is such a fantastic author and so different from many others that would write to make the reader happy. She writes to make the characters real, this means they have idiosyncrasies and they go through real hardships. It also means that some of the story is bittersweet but Ashley doesn't give into the pressure to create a perfect world, she expands on the flawed one we live in.
I always find second chance romances emotionally harder to read as you know the characters you fall in love with had to go through true hardship at some point in order for them not to be together in the present time. However, Ashley makes this such a stunning and compelling journey that i was definitely more emotional then normal. I have an empty bucket of ice cream to show as evidence. The secondary characters just lift this book to another level and i found it refreshing that yes, there are some people you don't like but the characters aren't stereotypical to the genre. The people who would be written as villains in another book of this genre were proven to be wonderful, cool characters in this.
I was completely enraptured in this book and i would certainly recommend it to everyone. Whether you have read the previous books or not this is a beautiful book.
